Catherine Rand is a Cape Cod based fine art photographer whose work is shaped by reflection, resilience, and a lifelong search for meaning in light and place. A former New York City graphic designer turned coastal visionary, she creates images that hold stillness, emotion, and quiet intensity.

Her love of photography began early, when picking up freshly developed prints felt like uncovering treasure. Since then, her lens has traveled from New York City and San Francisco to quiet corners abroad, always seeking moments of natural beauty and still emotion.

That attentiveness guides her work. It is not only about what she sees, but how she feels when she sees it.

Each photograph holds an emotional frequency, often paired with carefully chosen music that deepens the experience. When image and sound align, something alchemical happens. The photograph begins to resonate on a deeper level.

I don’t chase magic.

I stay open to it

It happens when the light is right, when mood, place, and timing align.

While pursuing photography in New York, Catherine’s greatest focus was raising her daughter, an experience that deepened her empathy and continues to shape her perspective.

Since settling on Cape Cod in 2019, she has immersed herself in documenting the region’s ever shifting coastline. Through struggle and healing, she developed a creative voice that feels both instinctual and entirely her own. She does not try to blend in. Her work is unmistakably different, shaped by personal transformation, raw insight, and emotional truth.

Her photographs are printed on paper, aluminum, and acrylic and appear in museum shops, galleries, private collections, and online auctions.
